How do I work
“The solution to the problem may not be related to the problem.”
The way I work is affected by so called Systemic approach. It is based on several quite interesting ideas not seen so often in therapy. I like to see the client as a partner in crime or even the expert on the problem as it is very difficult or even impossible to grasp the problem in its whole and with everything it affects. Therefore, do not expect any specific advice – therapy is a teamwork.
The client is seen as the one who has the information and sources and maybe with a little help or a push is able change what is needed to be changed. I don’t work with diagnoses or preconceptions, but with the information the client gives me in the sessions. We focus on finding the needs and possibilities of how to develop the solution in the life of each and every client. The sessions in general are future focused and rather practical then analytical.
I believe that even small steps can lead to big changes. Therefore, we work with the issue as a part of the system even if it doesn’t seem like there is one. Systemic also means seeing problems from different angles within the system. That leads to better understanding of the situation and building up certain guides that will help manage and resolve the problematic situations for the future. The changes and steps toward the goal that the client makes together with the help of the therapist are then implemented to the normal life of the individual and can subsequently be an influence on his or her social, family or work life system
Couples and families:
Because they are the system.
A systematic interview gives space to all participants to express their views, feelings or more or less different expectations of the situation. Maybe you have noticed that when there are more people involved in the problem situation, everyone has their own opinion about it. Even though everybody shares it. These different perspectives (especially those unreflected, unspoken, and therefore unshared) can often create or promote communication misunderstandings and create feelings of disappointment.
The aim of the sessions is not to unite different expectations (that might not even be possible), but to give room for the different expectations to be heard in a secure framework that will sufficiently enable working on the topics together. The content of the topics then can be transformed (elaborated) in the conversation towards a change in the thinking, experience and subsequentlyin the behavior of the people involved.
The added value I can offer you in therapy is using the source of the unconscious mind while adding a little mystery aka hypnotherapeutical fenomena into the process.
In hypnotherapy we use the human capabilities to learn how or work in altered state of mind, which we call hypnosis, trance or just a relaxation. But even the use of hypnosis in this case is based on and planted into the wider frame of the systemic thinking. As it is a learning experience, such as driving, it might take a couple of sessions to get better at it but there is no need to worry. The client is still in control. However, with usingthe altered state of mind we are able to develop an unusual, changed way of perceiving and experiencing things, simply seeing things differently. Also with the use of hypnosis the improvement of one’s condition can occur even without revelation or exploring sensitive or painful information. And so we by the altered state of mind encourage the unconscious processes in direct or indirect form, and support the search and development of the unconscious sources. By adding these sources into the process we are able to speed up or strengthen the healing process. Hypnosis has proven to be effective in helping with fears, phobias and anxiety, sleep disorders, depression, stress reduction, pain control and overcoming unwanted habits such as smoking.
