Counseling is aimed at people who seek support while resolving difficult life situations. In general, the goal in the counseling process is improving client´s abilities to orient himself/herself in his/her life so they will be able to deal with difficult situations in the future by themselves. This will be achieved by using their own strengths and resources. The client is actively participating in analysing the problem and concurrently learns how to accept responsibilities for their decisions and their consequences.
They work as a team and cooperate on fulfilling the needs and goals that the client states. The aim is better understanding themselves, their resources and abilities and inner motivations. The most important support factor is the relationship between client and the counselor, who is supporting his/her personal growth. This relationship is based on trust and understanding. The counselor doesn’t judge the client, but instead helps the client to identify additional choices and possibilities. The goal is to develop the ability to effectively lead themselves through life and successfully navigating it without assistance in the future.
